Two years is a very long time to spend waiting for someone to stop at your kennel, yet Draco still seems ready to say hello. The 8-year-old shelter dog has spent 670 days at Miami-Dade Animal Services, making him one of the facility’s longest residents, but the video shared by @adoptmiamidogproject shows a dog who has not given up on people.
He sweetly greets a human outside his kennel, showing off the same friendly side that volunteers have come to know. For Draco, those kennel days have stretched on far too long, but his sweet personality is still very much there.

Draco has now spent endless days at the shelter, with October marking two years since he arrived. That is just too long a time in the shelter for any dog, especially one who clearly enjoys having people around. In the video, Draco gets up from his bed and comes to the front of his kennel as a human stops by to see him. There is no hesitation about saying hello, and it is easy to see why the volunteers have such a soft spot for him.
Draco is not just a friendly face, either. He knows how to sit and give paw, and according to this volunteer, he loves walks, runs, plush toys, and spending time with people. One particularly sweet moment comes when he picks up a little lamb chop toy in the yard and walks around happily with it.
There is a little more to consider before Draco heads into a home, though. He is a strong dog who has spent almost two years living only in a shelter, so his future person will need to give him time to decompress and help him adjust. The good news is that he is treat-motivated, which should make training a lot more rewarding for everyone involved.
Hundreds of people have liked the video, while commenters are already cheering for Draco to get his chance finally. One volunteer described him in the comments as athletic, handsome, obedient, and sweet, adding that the family who adopts him will be incredibly lucky.
