Owner Has Rules for ‘Not Getting Labrador Out of Pool’

Not exaggerating, but trying to keep a water-obsessed dog dry is like trying to hold back the tide with a plastic spoon. Over at @bustersworld4, the daily struggle of managing a high-energy Labrador is very real, especially when there’s a pool involved. Buster seems to believe that “dry land” is just a brief intermission between swims. In a recent video that has racked up over 22,000 likes, his mom gives us some pointers on “How NOT to get a Labrador out of the pool.” That alone feels ominous because no matter what you do, Buster always ends up jumping into the water.

Labrador jumps into pool despite everything owner does

The video plays out like a manual on what not to do. It opens with the Labrador being gently guided toward the pool steps, his brother trailing behind. But the moment Buster’s paws hit dry ground, he does a perfect loop and launches himself straight back in. Rule #1 appears: don’t run after him. Naturally, his mom runs after him. Naturally, he runs faster.

From there, the rules stack up and fail spectacularly. The pool net? Too small. Blocking the steps? Immediate U-turn. Calm voice? Ignored entirely, even when he’s addressed as “Buster Henry.” Eye contact? Seen as a challenge. Standing in the pool? He just swims around you. Blocking the entrance? He finds a lane. Giving commands? “Noted and declined.”

Each attempt feels more earnest than the last, and Buster treats every single one like a game designed just for him. He pauses, pretends to listen, drops his toy dramatically — then jumps in anyway. The comments calling him a former seal feel accurate.

Mom finally gives up and calls in the reinforcements, “I’m getting Dad,” she says. Dad opens the door, says one sentence, and suddenly the pool party is over. Buster climbs out and heads inside without protest. Mom is left mid-sentence, “Seriousl…” when the video ends. Clearly, only dad knows the magic words! The video of the Labrador being obsessed with the pool has crossed 22,000 likes for a reason.
