Golden Retriever Has Dad Going Back on All the Rules He Swore He’d Never Break

Before bringing home a Golden Retriever, this dad had some very firm ideas about couches, beds, cars, dog birthdays, and even who was responsible for poop duty. The video from @ladyandtheblues shows how thoroughly those rules have disappeared.

The dog dad now cuddles Lady the Golden Retriever on the white couch, shares a pillow with her, takes her along in his nice car, and even gives her a special doggie seat. Somewhere along the video, the former “no dogs” guy became the dad who cannot seem to say no to the Golden.

“No dog on the couch” was apparently the first rule to go. Lady now gets the white couch, plenty of head scratches, and a very comfortable spot beside her dad. There are also clips of the two sleeping together there.

The bed rule did not survive either. The dog dad once said there would be “absolutely no dog in the bed,” but Lady is now stretched out beside him, sharing his pillow. In another shot, he sits on the floor just to stay close while giving her scratches.

Then there was the nice car. Lady rides in it wearing goggles, and her dad even made her a special doggie seat. The poop rule lasted about as long as the others. The dad once said he would not deal with that chore, yet there he is outside with Lady in the rain, picking it up while both wear raincoats.

Dog birthday parties were supposedly ridiculous too. Lady’s celebration says otherwise, with a dog-friendly cake, decorations, and plenty of friends. Her dad even wore a lobster costume for the party.

“One dog, that’s it” did not hold up for long either. Lily soon joined the family, and the dog dad is shown hugging her on the couch and working at his desk with the puppy across his lap. He even drove nine hours with the family so Lady could enjoy a snowy trip. Another clip has her riding along on a paddleboard as her dad rows.

The video of the dog dad and his Golden Retriever has earned over 29,000 likes, and commenters are having fun with his complete change of heart. One joked that mom had become “the 4th wheel.” At this point, the rules are pretty clear: Lady is family, Lily is family, and dad is completely smitten.
