As always, make sure your dog is safe at family get-togethers. There are plenty of dangers around the holidays, especially when food is involved. So keep an eye on your pup to make sure they don’t sneak any treats from the table that they shouldn’t.

Here are a few things to watch out for:

  • Chocolate and sweets are toxic for dogs, especially if they contain xylitol, an artificial sweetener.
  • Cooked turkey bones can splinter and cause damage or obstructions in your dog’s gastrointestinal tract. Only feed your dog white, skinless turkey meat with no seasoning, and do so in moderation.
  • Alcohol and caffeine are toxic to dogs. Do not let them steal sips when your guests leave their drinks out.
