Animal Farm Foundation (where Pit Bulls are just dogs)
I 've been a Pit Bull owner for 9 years -rescued a 6 week old male pup from the Bronx streets and this dog is heaven sent. The Royals did one better than the Obamas, who after Thierry widely publicized search for the white house pet got one from a breeder ignoring rescue groups' advise. Their excuse was that they wanted a dog with non allergenic fur. Well there are plenty of rescue poodles who qualify

Yay! For what it's worth, I don't think you're being judgmental. Yes, there are purebred dog rescues in the U.S.--good! And a lot of people adopt, but the point is, it's not enough and I personally know half a dozen people or more who will only get a dog when they buy it as a puppy from a breeder. I think you are unfairly judgmental here. Selecting a homeless dog by breed is very common in the states and not frowned upon. In fact, breed specific rescue agencies are common. Further, Jack Russels are difficult to place due to the nigh energy and intelligence of this breed; consequently, the Duchess may have been very smart to get a difficult-to-place dog. Lastly, they may have felt that a pup would fit into the existing "pack" better.
