When to muzzle your dog
I Recently had a 3 year old German Shepherd taken away from me and killed by the City of Ogden, Ogden, Utah He was playing with my children in the yard and bit a couple children....not bad bites kinda nips but did break the skin...so had to be quarantined for 10 days...that made him so crazy!!!...when I picked him up out of quarantine the Animal Services said I had to have a muzzle on him at all times...except in the house!! Is this appropriate for his playing around??

Shih Tzu now biting at age 6 ..why
My 6 year old who was obedience trained at 3-6 monts at two different facilities and then went on to the Delta certification for therapy dogs (and passed with 100%) is now biting and growling which is relatively new behavior. She has been well socialized with both dogs and prople. How do I deter this behavior?

Dog Guarding
My foster dog only guards things that belong to me. He won't let my roommate into my room or let her touch anything he thinks I pocess in other areas of the home. He is not pocessive of his own stuff. How do I fix this?? Has anyone else experienced this guarding issue?

Dog Muzzles
My groomer uses a soft e-collar when she grooms my difficult lhasa who nips at her. It looks like a foam core covered with fleece and fabric - firm but soft and comfy. Made very well. I was so impressed I got one to use when Rocky (my shih-tzu) had his eye removed. It worked awesome, and he could lay down, eat, and do everything comfortably. I got mine at http://www.designerecollars.com - not sure if it's also in stores.

Dominance: Dog training's dirty word
My 4 month old black lab has alot of energy. Sometimes, after a walk, during a walk or when just playing in the backyard he will stop, look at me then basically "atttack" me... He jumps up starts biting at me. I have tried the "ignoring" thing and the "rolling on the back and "muzzling" thing as well, he reacts better to the dominance roll. Any suggestions?

Entertainment tips for dogs
That was a nice lecture on who dogs are... but you never once answered the man's question. He obviously already has a dog, so telling him not to get one is late advise, and he obviously cares about his dog because he is taking the time to ask you the question. The proper thing to do would have been to briefly step down from your pedestal and simply respond to his question...

Our breeder brought several pups to the house when they were 6wks. and then our pup came to our home alone @ 8wks. Pup is a herding breed and is a natural so she also nips/bites. We ... (continued)
