But a deaf pup named Mummy turned her departure into an absolute tear-jerker by thanking her new owner in the most unique way possible. A viral adoption video of this sweet shelter dog from the popular account @eric.and.joey captures the exact second she realizes she is finally leaving for good. She spent more than a year waiting behind bars after a really rough start to life. And her gorgeous reaction to her adopter is currently making thousands of people online completely cry happy tears.
Shelter dog gives new family member a ‘paw hug’ after adoption
The footage opens outdoors with volunteers leading Mummy out on a leash to meet her new family. Her new dad immediately crouches down on the road to greet her. And she walks straight toward him with her tail wagging very fast. She is an affectionate Pit Bull who loves being close to their favorite humans, and so she sits right in front of him to soak up some under-chin scritches.
And then she pulls off the sweetest move. She lifts one of her front paws and wraps it completely around her dad’s leg to hold him close. The clip switches to slow motion to highlight the unique “paw hug,” then shows a still photo of the moment.
The family actually went through five separate meetings with her to build a connection after losing their previous dog a few years ago. Mummy also experienced a failed adoption before this, making this permanent save even more meaningful. The account creators shared the joyful update in their description.
