A shelter dog is still waiting behind her kennel door for someone to give her a forever home. In the Instagram video, the 5-year-old Mary is said to be the “longest resident” in the shelter. She seems to grow hopeful whenever someone passes by her kennel. The clip shows her curiously looking at the glass window when she notices a human. Since then, the fur baby has been in the shelter, waiting for her happy ending. “Even with everything she’s been through, Mary is still so loving,” it reads.

Shelter Dog still waits and hopes behind kennel door, watching life go by one day at a time

In a heartbreaking dog video on Instagram, a shelter dog named Mary is hopeful, waiting behind her kennel door. The clip shows she’s the “longest resident” and has gotten used to “watching the world through glass.” She continues to look at the human who records her curious and confused expressions.

When the volunteer approaches the pooch, Mary seems satisfied to be noticed. She lets the human boop her nose and pet her through the little space of her kennel door. It appears she has been longing for care, love, and the warmth of a touch. Moreover, the caption states, “She’s watched so many dogs around her leave with their new families, and all she can think is ‘will today finally be the day I get picked?’”

Furthermore, it states that Mary’s family left her because their landlord didn’t allow the pooch. Despite dealing with abandonment and loneliness, she also suffers from skin allergies. Although her treatment is ongoing, the uploader mentions that she can be much better under proper care at home.

Meanwhile, viewers helped Mary in the comments to boost the Instagram post. Moreover, it has garnered over 14K likes as of this writing.
