There’s a question Miss Finster seems to have for the shelter staff, and it’s a pretty hard one to answer: “Did I get any applications since my last video?” The 4-year-old shelter mama dog has watched her puppies head off to families while her own turn keeps getting pushed back. She’s been waiting since 2023.
In a new video from @bigdogranchrescue, Miss Finster stands at the counter with her paws resting on top of it, looking toward the person on the other side. The answer she gets is not the one anyone wanted to give her.
Shelter mama dog sees all her puppies find forever homes, hoping someone will finally choose her
Once Miss Finster has asked the question, a staff member softly tells her, “I’m sorry, Miss Finster, there are no applications.” She doesn’t get much time to dwell on it, though. The shelter staff member sits down beside her and holds her face in both hands. She also offers the pup a little reassurance: “Maybe tomorrow will be your day.”
Miss Finster is then back in her kennel, with another message from her point of screen view: “Okay… I’ll be here. You know where to find me.” And that hopeful little attitude says a lot about her.
The rescue describes Miss Finster as a dog who loves toys, staying active, and hanging out with people. She already knows her basic commands, too, so there is plenty to like about this happy girl beyond that sweet face.
Volunteers have shared some pretty lovely stories about her in the comments. One said Miss Finster handled a backstage concert event beautifully, greeting people and other dogs politely and being especially gentle with puppies. Another volunteer said she was “the sweetest, happiest girl” during a doggy day out, and that she loved going for walks and getting belly rubs.
There’s even an application update in the comments from someone hoping she will soon join a family in Pensacola. Her adoption fee has also been sponsored by @costikyancarpet. And they will also provide a year’s supply of food and a full year of flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
So Miss Finster, who appears to be an American Pit Bull Terrier, is still waiting, but there are signs that someone is looking her way. For a shelter mama dog who has watched her puppies leave before her, that next application could change everything.
