Rescue Dog Sees Lizard, Makes One Bad Decision & Ends up in Air Jail

You can spend years teaching your pup commands, but all that training can disappear the second something interesting catches their eye. One glimpse of a moving creature is often enough to awaken their natural instincts. Unfortunately, those impulses don’t always lead to the best decisions. Just ask Cactus, a rescue dog whose attempt to pursue a lizard ended with him being placed in “air jail” by his owner.

Cactus, a rescue dog featured on the Instagram account @cactustherescue, recently found himself in “air jail” after his determination to chase a lizard got the better of him. His owner, Mike Brown, shared a video explaining the situation as he carried the pup in his arms following the mischievous incident.

The clip begins with Brown walking into the room with Cactus tucked securely under one arm. Text over the video reads, “When your dog has clearly been living with a cat,” hinting that the pup may have picked up a few habits from another pet in the house.

As Brown enters, his partner asks why Cactus is in “air jail.” Brown then explains that the dog had decided to jump behind the television after spotting a lizard outside. The video soon cuts to footage of the incident itself, revealing just how determined Cactus was to pursue his target.

After noticing the lizard through the window, the rescue dog immediately became fixated on it. He jumped onto the TV stand and attempted to make his way behind the television in hopes of getting closer. The unusual route appeared to be inspired by the family’s cat, Miso, who is known to spend time in that same area.

While filming, Brown calmly tried to talk Cactus out of his plan. He reassured the dog that they could go outside to look for the lizard and encouraged him to get down from the stand. Fortunately, the situation ended without any damage, though Cactus still earned himself a playful sentence in air jail afterward.

In the caption, Brown shared his theory about what led to the behavior. “Cactus has clearly seen Miso hangout behind the TV a few too many times. He didn’t think twice about jumping back there!” he wrote.

Soon enough, viewers filled the comments section with jokes about the dog’s actions. “Thats a face of zero regrets,” one person wrote. Another commenter imagined the dog’s thoughts, joking, “It’s okay, air jail is kinda comfy.”

Others suggested practical solutions. “Time to relocate the TV!” one viewer wrote. Meanwhile, one commenter couldn’t help but think of Miso, joking that “Miso’s hiding spot is no longer safe.”
