Rescue Dog Watches Dad Let the Foster Puppy Out, Then Runs To Bring His Little Friend a Toy

Cactus has clearly run out of patience by the time Dad comes home. So, the moment he enters the house, the rescue dog starts barking, hopping, and grumbling his way through a very serious request: get the foster puppy out of his pen now.

In the video shared by @cactustherescue, Cactus leads dad straight to Cowboy’s pen, checks that his little friend is ready, and then keeps looking up and barking at dad as if the message could not be clearer. Cowboy seems just as eager to get out and start playing, too.

Dad asks Cactus, “Where’s the baby?” and Cactus has plenty to say about it. He barks, grumbles, and hops around. Most importantly, he leads Dad right down the hallway to Cowboy. The in-video text says Cactus has become “obsessed” with the foster puppy, and the footage makes a pretty convincing case. Cactus stands beside the pen while Cowboy waits on the other side, and Cactus keeps barking as if Dad somehow has not understood the assignment yet.

“Now let him out.” “Hurry.” “Let him out please.” That is basically the running commentary. Cactus even drops into a play bow while looking up at dad, just in case the barking did not get the point across. Finally, dad lifts the puppy out of the pen and Cowboy takes off toward the living room.

Cactus disappears for a second, but there is a very good reason. Dad explains, “He’s bringing you a toy,” and Cactus soon comes racing back into view with one in his mouth. Michael and Cactus recently taught Cowboy how to play tug, and now the puppy is getting plenty of practice with his favorite teacher.

After all that excitement, the two dogs settle onto the rug together. Dad asks Cactus, “Are you having fun with the baby?” Cactus answers with a huge grin. The video has received more than 99,000 likes, while commenters are already asking whether Cowboy might become a permanent part of the family. Watching a former rescue dog take an eager little foster puppy under his wing is just the sweetest part of the day.
