One look at Cactus curled up inside the shower, and it is obvious this little rescue dog was having a really hard day. His dad, Michael, tells us that the sweet pup is currently recovering from a medical procedure and decided the bathroom was his safest hiding spot. However, his pet parent is right there to help him feel secure again. His dad knows that patience is the only way to get this desert pup moving. Getting the dog back in the car was rough, so they are taking things very slowly.
Rescue dog trusts when dad says it’s okay to come out of hiding, then gets cuddles
The footage begins with Michael finding the pup tucked away in the shower cubicle. The on-screen text reads, “Trying to comfort my anxious rescue pup: part 2,” after a previous clip showed him hiding in a closet earlier, too. “Cactus, come here buddy,” his dad says while trying to coax him out. Meanwhile, the rescue dog wags his tail slightly but stays firmly planted on the floor.
Michael tells him he is okay, yet the pup still looks incredibly unsure. Eventually, the dog stands up once he realizes he has his owner’s full attention. His dad takes his head in his hands and asks what is wrong. Cactus still looks like he wants to stay as far from the car as possible.
Then, dad lifts the rescue dog into his arms for a successful extraction from the bathroom. He carries him straight to the bed to continue the reassurance. Anxious dogs often need extra physical contact to feel truly grounded after a stressful day. Michael sits down next to him on the bed and offers a treat to help the pup relax. Cactus takes the snack while his human speaks in a very soft voice.
Then, Michael lies down and pats his chest to invite the pup closer. The dog obliges and rests his chin right on his favorite person. Dad kisses his snout while the rescue dog finally starts to relax and unwind. It’s no wonder then that the video already pulled over 42.2k likes in such a short duration, as of the time of writing.
