Video: Bully Takes Owner’s Permission Before Jumping on Couch

No judgment, but some dogs burst into a room like they own every soft surface within a five-mile radius. And then there are dogs like Tuktuk, who act like they need a formal invitation to exist on upholstery. The video on @lulu_andtuktuk’s Instagram page catches that exact moment, the American Bully’s big blocky head resting gently on the edge of the couch. Almost like he’s trying to ask a question without actually asking it. With his Staffy sibling usually providing the chaos in the duo, Tuktuk plays the polite, thoughtful counterpart, and it absolutely shows. He waits, he watches, and you can practically hear the little internal monologue: “Is now a good time, Mother?”

Bully won’t jump on couch without owner’s permission in video

The clip begins with the hilarious “chin placement” move; Tuktuk simply rests his head on the couch cushion while his mom films from above. The in-video text spells it out: “How my dog checks for permission to jump onto the couch.” His tail gives this tiny, hopeful wag when she teasingly asks, “Can I help you?” and instead of moving his whole body, he just flicks his eyes toward the empty spot beside her. Subtle. Strategic. Extremely effective.

His mom bursts out laughing, and that’s when everything changes. You can see Tuktuk’s whole face say, “Ah yes, this is my moment.” The second she says, “C’mon up,” his paw shoots onto the cushion like he’s been waiting a long time for that green light.

The text pops up again, “Literally, yes to everything. Have whatever you want.” As he hoists himself up, he heads straight to the corner of the couch. And then does a full, unapologetic potato-plop into the cushions.

Mom gives him a soft “Aww, buddy,” and he knows. No wonder the video has over 11.1k likes — the comments are full of people calling him a “love potato,” swooning over his gentle manners, and cheering him on. And really, who could ever say no to that face?
