Video: Dog Helps Dad Run the Bases at His Softball Game

Noodle, a spirited Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, clearly didn’t need any convincing to join in on her dad’s softball game. When her human brought her along to cheer her dad from the sidelines, she quickly decided that watching wasn’t enough.

As soon as her dad made contact with the ball, Noodle bolted, leash in tow, ready to run alongside him. On the other side of the fence, of course. Her excitement was so contagious that it seemed like she really thought she was part of the squad. Her mom had to run after her right away, and the crowd (and online viewers) were in stitches.

Dog has her own way of cheering for her dad at his softball game in video

The clip opens with Noodle standing with her mom on the sidelines, watching patiently as the game plays out. The on-screen text says, “Thought it would be a good idea to bring my dog to cheer for her dad’s softball game.” Everything looks just as it should be — until her dad gets ready to hit the ball.

As soon as he makes contact with the ball and starts running, Noodle suddenly bolts along the fence, leash trailing behind her. Her mom joked in the caption, “Guess she thought he needed help running the bases.” Noodle takes off like she’s the MVP of the team, heading straight to her imaginary bases. Her mom’s astonished laugh says it all: she certainly didn’t think her dog would do something so bold.

Thankfully, Dad only hit a single, which meant Noodle stopped when he did. In the comments, her human wrote, “Thank goodness he only hit a single so she stopped when he did.” The moment is as hilarious as it is heartwarming — proof that this pup takes “supportive teammate” to a whole new level.

The video, which has already earned over 2,000 likes, drew plenty of love from viewers. One person laughed, “SHE’S RUNNING A HOME RUN.” Another wrote, “She’s showing him how to run.” And someone else summed it up best: “Shes so supportive of nood dad.”
