Three-Legged Puppy Was Too Terrified to Trust Anyone — Now She Can’t Stop Running

The little three-legged rescue puppy didn’t come running when help arrived. Socks was alone in the jungle and far too scared to know who she could trust. One of her hind legs was already gone, and she clearly wanted to keep her distance from anything unfamiliar.

Socks’ story starts with a heartwrenching scene in the jungle. She is hiding behind the overgrowth, alone and frightened, with one hind leg already missing. Her missing leg had already healed, but trusting people was going to take much more time.

On her way to the shelter, Socks is mostly seen lying quietly in her crate, with little idea of what is coming next. Then the video cuts to the rescue dog now, and suddenly she is a completely different-looking pup.

Now in Spain, Socks is making her own rules about how much running a three-legged dog should do. She chases her sibling, Fletcher, along the beach, runs beside her family, and even gets in the pool for a swim. Basically, if Fletcher or her humans are doing something, Socks wants in.

Then there are the moments when Socks slows down. At home, Socks and Fletcher each get a toy from their dad. A quick cut later, they’re back outside running around together. Her family cuddles, kisses, and holds her close, and at one point Socks rests her paw in her mom’s hand. Later, all that running catches up with her, and she falls asleep on her human’s chest while being gently petted.

She still has only three legs, of course, but watching her run, swim and play makes it easy to see why viewers forget that detail entirely. The video has passed 22,000 likes, and Socks’ family, @socksandfletcher, even commented that seeing the tribute made them cry. After seeing where the three-legged rescue puppy started, that reaction makes complete sense.
