Mama Dog’s Babies Wait for Her To Come Back, but She Can’t Stop Looking at Foster Dad From the Door

Honey knows exactly where her puppies are. She also knows exactly where she would rather be for a few more minutes. Sitting on the garage floor, the tired mama dog looks up at the camera as if she has just been asked to return to work, while her six babies wait nearby and her foster dad tries to convince her that nursing duty is calling. Shared by @cactustherescue, the video catches one very relatable standoff: Honey clearly loves her little ones, but right now, a quiet break, some attention, and a little time with her people sound pretty good, too.

Mama dog pauses at the door, caught between foster dad and her babies waiting for her

Michael starts by asking Honey, “You don’t wanna go in anymore, do you?” Her wagging tail doesn’t exactly answer the question, but it certainly doesn’t look like a yes. Then the camera swings toward the puppies, who are all waiting for their mom with their own little tails going. Michael calls them “little tormentors,” which feels unfair when six cute faces are staring back so innocently.

Honey gets another reminder that it’s time to go back inside. Michael pets her head, gives her some cheek scritches, and calls her a sweet girl. Still, she isn’t moving very quickly. She finally gets up and heads toward the doorway, only to stop again. For a few seconds, Honey stands there looking between the garage and the room where her puppies are waiting.

The on-screen text says she is “fighting to not go in,” and the expression on her face says plenty. Even with some gentle coaxing, she takes one step, pauses, and needs another little nudge. Eventually, Michael decides Honey has earned a few more minutes off duty. He brings her inside to hang out with another rescue, Cactus, and she settles in close for some cuddles while Cactus wanders around them.

The rescue explained that caring for six puppies around the clock can leave nursing moms sore, exhausted, and in need of a breather. So, Honey gets to simply relax and be herself for a little while before returning to her babies. The video has already passed 37,000 likes in just 10 hours of being posted.
