Dave Portnoy, along with his pup Miss Peaches, took to TikTok to announce an “urgent message for all hoomans in South Florida.” The social media personality shared that the hurricane is coming in, and the Medley shelter of Miami-Dade Animal Services requires foster parents to house dogs for a week as they expect flooding in the area.

Portnoy further shared contact information for anyone willing to foster dogs during this time. He urged, “Save a dog, help a dog. Just for a week, we need some foster homes in Southern Florida.” Before ending the TikTok video, he also attached the shelter’s poster with a plea.

Miami-Dade Animal Services shared the same on their Instagram. They noted, “With a tropical storm on the way, we’re doing everything we can to keep our shelter dogs safe!” The post also stated that the shelter “urgently” needs fosters from Tuesday to Saturday. They added, “If you can help provide a safe haven for our furry friends, please reach out to us at [email protected].”

In another post, Miami-Dade Animal Services revealed they have received a “huge response from the community.” The staff will now be available at the Medley Facility on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to place pets into foster homes.

The shelter confirmed they will be working on getting the 160 Medley dogs into temporary homes. Some social media users were hopeful that some of these pups may “end up getting adopted.” Meanwhile, others continued to offer their support in the post’s comment section.
