Shelter Dog Remains the Sweetest Soul Despite Her Pain, Quietly Seeking Help

Kimmy was sitting quietly in the corner of her kennel when a volunteer, Brianna (@brisavespaws), stopped to check on her. Then, despite the obvious pain in one of her back legs, the one-year-old Doberman mix got up, came over for a treat, and kept wagging her tail. A little later, she even tried a few rounds of zoomies outside. This shelter dog had every reason to be sulking, yet she seemed more interested in greeting someone than showing how much she was hurting.

The video starts with Kimmy tucked into the corner of her kennel. She looks calm, almost like she is waiting for someone to stop by, and the text from Brianna’s POV says, “Some days I go to the shelter and look for the one who’s quietly asking for help.” Kimmy walks over as the volunteer approaches, and that is when her injured hind leg becomes much easier to see. She is limping, and the leg hangs awkwardly as she moves.

A leash walk outside gives her a little more freedom, though. Kimmy heads into the sunny yard with her tail wagging, and somehow she even tries little zoomies with the leg she can properly use. That happy energy keeps showing up throughout the video.

She takes a treat gently, lets the volunteer hold her sweet face, and keeps looking up at her. At just one year old, Kimmy really is still a baby, despite everything that has happened to her. The shelter volunteer says Kimmy is on the euthanasia list for Wednesday, September 2, and needs a local Houston foster by 1 p.m. on September 2.

Rescue groups also need pledges to help cover her medical expenses. Her heartworm test is negative, and the volunteer says she did well meeting another dog. Viewers have been sharing plenty of encouragement, with one person pointing out that even losing the injured leg would not stop her from having a happy life. Back in her kennel, Kimmy is still wagging at the camera. Now the shelter dog needs someone in Houston to step forward and help give the sweetest little girl the chance to heal.
