Shelter Dog Gets His First New Bed, Then Quickly Tucks Himself In

A shelter pup named Buck won hearts after an Instagram video showed him receiving a comfort upgrade at Maui Humane Society. In a clip shared by @cassondrachristman from Maui, the young dog waits for someone to choose him after weeks of uncertainty. Inside his kennel, the pup meets a soft yellow bed, carries it with purpose, picks his favorite spot, and turns the small surprise into a tiny homecoming.

Shelter dog’s reaction to receiving a new bed is truly heart-melting

The video opens with Buck behind kennel bars as on-screen text says someone is “bringing a shelter pup a new dog bed.” The camera shows him grabbing the yellow bedding, already acting like he has a plan.

Another caption introduces him: “This is Buck.” From there, the reel becomes funny and tender. Buck walks through the kennel area with the bedding, reaches the raised cot, and places it exactly where he wants it. Then he climbs up and tucks himself into the blanket.

Cassondra then has “one more surprise” for him. She offers “a new giraffe toy too,” and Buck takes the orange stuffed animal right away. The clip says he brought “giraffey” back to his bed before settling in.

The caption adds the sadder part of Buck’s story. He was found wandering the streets of Molokai for weeks with other pups. Cassondra wrote that she keeps wondering how such an adorable, personable, funny boy had no one looking for him.
