Nobody Chooses Shelter Dog, So He Quietly Lies in His Kennel Until Something Precious Happens

A shelter can be a difficult place for a dog who simply wants to spend time with people. You may see pups waiting behind kennel doors. But it is easy to forget how much they notice when visitors come and go without choosing them. Bruce, a 6-year-old shelter dog, experienced that disappointment when thousands of people saw his story but no one came forward to adopt him.

A video shared by @humanebroward shows Bruce quietly lying in his bed inside his kennel. The 60-pound dog appears tired and dejected as text on the video explains that he had not been adopted. According to the shelter, thousands of people had watched Bruce’s previous video. However, nobody had stepped forward to take him home.

Wanting to give him a change of scenery and some company, shelter staff brought Bruce’s bed into their office. It was a small attempt to make him feel more comfortable and included while he continued to wait for a family.

But Bruce seemed less interested in staying in his own bed than in being close to the people around him. Rather than settling down in the bed, he chose to sit on a chair in the office, positioning himself closer to the staff. The simple moment showed just how much he seemed to value being around people.

According to the shelter, that affectionate nature is typical of Bruce. Volunteers and staff describe him as friendly, loving, and eager to receive pets and scratches. At six years old, he is also a laid-back dog who would happily spend much of his time relaxing beside his people.

More than anything, Bruce is looking for a stable home where he can feel wanted. He does not need an owner who plans to take him on constant adventures or keep him busy every hour of the day. A soft place to sleep, regular affection, and a family willing to include him in their everyday life could be enough.

There is already one less obstacle standing between Bruce and his new home. A supporter has paid his adoption fee, meaning his future family will not have to cover that cost. Now, the shelter is hoping the right person will finally see Bruce, give him a chance, and bring him home.
