Senior Shelter Dog Looks Defeated in Her Kennel, Until a Fun Pool Therapy Transforms Her

A pink pool turns out to be exactly what Isabela needed after looking so tired in her kennel. The 9-year-old Siberian Husky walks into the yard with a volunteer and suddenly picks up the pace, eager to see what is waiting for her. In the video shared by @thepoochproject, the shelter dog goes from lying listlessly in her kennel to happily splashing around, panting, and looking far more like herself. Her final notice expired on August 20, so this little break from kennel life carries a lot of weight. Isabela deserves more days like this one.

The video opens with Isabela resting quietly in her kennel. She looks tired and almost defeated, which makes the next part even sweeter. A volunteer puts her on a leash and starts walking her out. Isabela seems to recognize where she is going, because she gets a spring in her step almost immediately.

Then she spots the pool. She steps into the pink tub filled with water and starts splashing around. Her whole mood changes. Isabela looks happy, excited, and completely focused on enjoying herself. She pants as she plays, then gets plenty of affection from the volunteer when she comes back out.

The person who shared the clip calls it “a little pool therapy” and asks who is going to give this 9-year-old girl the retirement life she deserves. That question matters because Isabela arrived at Downey Animal Care Center as a stray on July 31 and has already passed her final notice.

Shelter staff described her as occasionally seeking affection from handlers and remaining calm around other dogs, though she preferred to keep her distance. They noted stiff hind limbs and said she could do well with a calm companion who lets her interact at her own pace.

Hundreds of people have liked the shelter dog’s video, with viewers asking others to share her story. One commenter said no senior should have to spend time in a shelter. Another pointed out that older dogs can be wonderful companions and still have plenty of life left.
