The “older sibling” energy that happens when you bring a tiny newcomer into the house is very real. It’s marked by that awkward phase where the older kid wants to start a club, but the toddler just wants to eat the crayons. Over at @lukaandmilo1, we get a front-row seat to this hilarious learning curve between two new best friends. Their latest video shows Luca, a goofy Golden Retriever, realizing that his new puppy brother, Milo, isn’t quite ready for a high-speed game of play just yet. It’s a mix of genuine hope and very mild confusion.
Video shows Golden Retriever growing impatient as he waits for puppy to play
The living room floor is where the action is happening when the video opens. Two dogs, two toys. Puppy Milo is currently obsessed with a blue tug toy. Luca decides to introduce his own pink plushie into the mix. You can tell he wants the puppy to notice him and his toy. Which is why he drops the toy right at the end of Milo’s tug toy.
When that doesn’t work, Luca briefly considers grabbing the other end of the tug toy… then decides against it. Instead, he tries a different strategy. He lifts the pink plushie again, rolls onto his back, and scoots himself directly into Milo’s line of sight. It’s dramatic. It’s deliberate. And it finally works.
Milo pauses, tail wagging, distracted enough to sniff Luca’s face and investigate the toy. Luca lets the plushie fall from his mouth like a peace offering, still upside down. Then he rolls back over, watching closely as Milo briefly ends up with two toys. But puppies have short attention spans. When Milo inevitably returns to his blue tug, Luca seems to accept reality. He calmly picks up the pink plushie and carries it over to his human instead, as if he’s decided, ‘Alright.’ You’ll do.
Just before the video ends, though, Luca gives it one last hopeful try; taking the toy back toward Milo, just in case the puppy’s ready now. He’s clearly looking for a play buddy, but the puppy is still in that “everything is a chew toy” phase. The owner’s caption nails it, saying he’s just “patiently waiting for Milo to get bigger.” It’s a sentiment that has resonated with over a hundred people who have liked the clip so far.
