Great family pets?
I've heard Irish setters are quite boisterous, but would they suit a family with;
young children very nervous with dogs, a cat, small pets, and would they be able to be left alone for a few hours some days?
We know they need excercise, and we have a small park with a pond next to our house, and apart from the small children, we are all very experienced with dogs. we fell totally in love with this breed, and really hope it will work, will they suit our family?

Irish Setter in the Lake
My house trained Irish Setter, goes wild when she runs freely in the woods and finds any pond that has a duck. Can't get her to come out of the water, what can we do to let her have a free space to run, yet respond when she is distracted by her hunting instincts?
