You might think bringing home newborns would instantly create a picture-perfect friendship with the family dog. More often than not, though, those bonds develop through small moments and growing familiarity. For pets, that can mean learning when to step forward and when to give space. An Instagram video by @levithehuskyrescue showed a Husky named Levi understanding that balance before finally sharing a breakthrough moment with two babies.
Husky patiently waits for babies to like him before they become best friends
The video shows Levi eager to get to know the family’s newborn twins from the moment they arrived. According to their mother, the pup was always interested in the babies and often stayed nearby, watching them with curiosity. However, he seemed to understand that building trust would take time.
So, the dog kept a respectful distance while the babies adjusted to their new surroundings. The mother explained through text on the video that Levi waited for months for the babies to warm up to him. “Until today. It finally happened,” the next onscreen message reads.
The footage then reveals the breakthrough. As the mother walks into the room, she finds one of the babies completely engaged with Levi. The child laughs at the dog’s playful behavior while Levi proudly carries around a toy and appears determined to show it off. At several points, the Husky lets out excited barks, seemingly thrilled that the baby is finally responding to him.
The interaction is simple but meaningful. The baby watches Levi’s movements closely and laughs as the dog playfully flails around with his toy. Their mother later wrote in the caption that this was “the moment my husky and baby became best friends.”
Many commenters were touched by the bond they witnessed. “The baby imitating his wild flailing melts my heart. The babies are part of his pack,” one person wrote. Another joked about what the future might hold, saying, “Just wait until the twins are walking. [They] will become co-conspirators in numerous acts of shenanigans.”
