Dogs fighting or playing?

Just finished reading Dogs fighting or playing?...how can I tell the difference was just what I needed to read. My two great pry's got out of my yard, and took themselves for a "walk" ... when things got worse. A neighbor walking his unleashed Akita, met up with our self walkers, and unfortunately the man claims our 2 and 3 year old dogs attacked his so...while my female is on her back, with his Akita standing ov... Dog Sharing ?

I have recently found out about dog sharing, where people who can't cope through illness or infirmity or because they are suddenly working away or for whatever reason are finding it hard not to neglect their dog and wonder what to do about it. So dog sharing is where you share the care of your dog with someone else in the local community. It could be anything from occassional walks to a second home and anything in ... (continued)

Dominance: Dog training's dirty word

My 4 month old black lab has alot of energy. Sometimes, after a walk, during a walk or when just playing in the backyard he will stop, look at me then basically "atttack" me... He jumps up starts biting at me. I have tried the "ignoring" thing and the "rolling on the back and "muzzling" thing as well, he reacts better to the dominance roll. Any suggestions?

The proper thing to do would have been to briefly step down from your pedestal and simply respond to his question...

Training a territorial dog

My husband and I have rescued a 10 month old dog about 2 1/2 months ago. He was very timid around us at first, and did not know how to be a pet. We think he is a german shepherd-husky mix (source: vet) We had him on a leash in the house a lot at the beginning to show him it is safe and okay to be with us. He is SUCH a different dog now! He loves my husband and I and enjoys playing with other dogs. We have noti... (continued)

Mature dog vs puppy

My 14 year old Bouvier passed away leaving her buddy a poodle terrier mix. We brought an 8 week old Bouvier into the family.Bouv is now 3 1/2 months and our older dog wants to spend all of her time in the laundry room--both are female. Our breeder brought several pups to the house when they were 6wks. and then our pup came to our home alone @ 8wks. Pup is a herding breed and is a natural so she also nips/bites. We ... (continued)

Raising a puppy: Housetraining

We just got a 3 year old Peekapoo and we can't get him to stop peeing in the house? I'm afraid it may already be a habit from his previous owner? What is the best way to train him now? Thanks
