Does your dog not like to play with other dogs?
My dog is very friendly and very passive. When he visits his friends (doggies) he'll say Hi, do a little sniffing and then will just wander off. People have asked me, "Doesn't he like to play?". He will be 12 years old next week and I don't think I can ever remember him romping around with another dog? Is this a border collie trait?

Fenced area size for a BC
Hi everybody,
I'm a new owner of a BC pup - 3 months old. I'm going to create a fenced area on my backyard and I'm looking for an advise on what would be a reasonably-sized area for him to play and exercise (I'd like to avoid fencing the entire yard, but I also want to make him comfortable and provide ample space for training). Any advise is very much appreciated.

dominant border collie
Need some direction! I have a 8 month old male border collie (Jackson). Jackson is very well trained and we have developed a very close relationship. But 4 days ago, i brought home two 8 week old border collies. The first couple of days were tough because Jackson was attacking the new pups. He no longer attacks the pups with me around but I know that he will if i am not. He is at his worse when the puppies be... (continued)

If you think you want a Border Collie
I love border collies, but I'll be the first to admit that they aren't for everyone. For openers, they are high energy (industrial strength energy!) dogs. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Many behaviors that make them premier herding dogs don't translate well into being the average family dog.
For instance, they are also, well, weird. Extremely reactive to sights and sounds. Don't be surprised if the ele... (continued)

Bored on Walks
My 18 mo. old border/heeler mix is not wanting to go on our nightly three mile walks around the neighborhood. She seems very reluctant, sometimes hiding from us, although if you mention car, she is the first one to the door. I have tried to make it fun for her, having her jump up on fences and walk along the tops, etc. but that's gotten old as well. Any ideas? Also, we cross a natural wash every night where, w... acclimating my border collie
Hi,
My 8 month Border Collie came to her new home yesterday. Her old owner has to move and cannot take her. I have been excited about her and figured that the transition could be tough. She is throwing up with diarrhea. I will take her to the vet tomorrow if it continues. Is this common?
I lay by her about 20 minutes out of the hour talking to her and rubbing her tummy. Any other suggestions?

games for hyper BC?
Anyone have any recommendations for ways to tire out a very, very, very energetic young Border Collie? I was thinking about getting a second dog so they could wear each other out, but I'm not sure that's such a good idea. One is exhausting enough!
