Food and smell obsessed Monroe
Our family (my boyfriend and I) adopted a 2 year old basset 3 months ago. We are very happy with such a great addition to our household. Monroe came house trained and is just the sweetest dog ever! The only trouble we have is his obsession with food or what he things is food! We feed him twice a day with the recommended amount and treat him after good jobs with a few treats. Mouthy Basset
My 1 year old female, apart from being generally nuts and energetic has suddenly become very mouthy when playing. She is also becoming more and more demanding about play and will stare at you and bark. I have not re-enforced this behaviour and don't play with her when she is demanding it. Basset Siezure
My 13 year old Basset Bryndee just had a seizure, not sure what kind, she flipped flopped on floor then tried to get up and run, followed by labored breathing with a stop like something hurt. She still hasn't got up and walked, but has moved positions. I am not at all close to an emergency vet (hours away), could anyone help me for today, Vet here in town will be open in morning. I am at a loss she is my life, will be lost without her as she is all I have here.

Housetraining a 1 1/2 yr old Bassett
I am going to adopt a 1 1/2 year old male Bassett Hound next weekend. He has lived outside since he was born, but my husband and I want to keep him inside. Any advice on how to properly house train him? Thanks

Scent Training
I have a 3 Year old Basset and we are adopting a puppy, I would like to learn how to Scent Train them just for fun and to keep them occupied. Does anyone know of a good Scent Training training guide for Bassets?

Basset Shedding
Hi--I know that these dogs are listed here as level-3 shedders. Being a person with allergies I was wondering just how much they shed. Is it hair everywhere? Thanks.

Does It EVER Get Easier???
We had to put our 6 1/2 yr old Basset, Maggie, down on Mon the 19th. She had inoperable lymphoma. We found out in Nov/08. My husband and I agreed right away that we would not let get so sick that she can't enjoy the life that she has left. She was still pretty happy towards the end. But with us knowing her we knew that it was the right time because she was just getting sicker, slowing down, not eating all the time... (continued)

Seizure
Our eight year old bassett had signs of having a seizure today. He was upright, unresponsive, stiff, and urinate without control. Has any one else had a seizure issue?
