Animal Farm Foundation (where Pit Bulls are just dogs)
I 've been a Pit Bull owner for 9 years -rescued a 6 week old male pup from the Bronx streets and this dog is heaven sent. He loves kids cats, all people and craves attention from all.He has come with me to my home health care jobs. The Royals did one better than the Obamas, who after Thierry widely publicized search for the white house pet got one from a breeder ignoring rescue groups' advise. Their excuse was that they wanted a dog with non allergenic fur. Well there are plenty of rescue poodles who qualify

Yay! For what it's worth, I don't think you're being judgmental. Yes, there are purebred dog rescues in the U.S.--good! And a lot of people adopt, but the point is, it's not enough and I personally know half a dozen people or more who will only get a dog when they buy it as a puppy from a breeder. I think you are unfairly judgmental here. Selecting a homeless dog by breed is very common in the states and not frowned upon. In fact, breed specific rescue agencies are common. Further, Jack Russels are difficult to place due to the nigh energy and intelligence of this breed; consequently, the Duchess may have been very smart to get a difficult-to-place dog. Lastly, they may have felt that a pup would fit into the existing "pack" better.

One thing to rmember when adopting from ANY rescue agency... only a few animals ar brought in by their ownes and IF they are honest that is the best info available. But most of the time the pet is "save" and any assesment is done quickly. Therte is screening done to determine overall health but not everything can be detected.
