When to muzzle your dog
I Recently had a 3 year old German Shepherd taken away from me and killed by the City of Ogden, Ogden, Utah He was playing with my children in the yard and bit a couple children....not bad bites kinda nips but did break the skin...so had to be quarantined for 10 days...that made him so crazy!!!...when I picked him up out of quarantine the Animal Services said I had to have a muzzle on him at all times...except in the house!! Is this appropriate for his playing around??

Top 10 dog care essentials
I disagree with one thing. Do not ask your vet about what to feed your dog. They are not trained on nutrition. Learn how to read a dog food panel. Compare ingredients. Your local pet supply store should be able to help with this better than your vet. Beware of online oppinions. Remember dog food companies will all tell you that their food is the best. Beniful is a perfect example. The comercials tell you i... (continued)

Importance of starting training early
I have fostered dogs for a variety of canine rescues over the past several years. It is truly unfortunate that some pets are not viewed as true family members so end up having aggression and behavior problems. Smaller breeds require the same level of discipline as lager breeds or same issues arise. If formal training is not a viable option due to expense there are many different avenues of training available. I f... (continued)

Dog Sharing ?

So dog sharing is where you share the care of your dog with someone else in the local community. It could be anything from occassional walks to a second home and anything in ... (continued)

Feeding a puppy
IMHO, from my experience you don’t necessarily have to feed different foods for puppies and adults. A few natural brands have an all life-stages philosophy and manufacture food you can raise your dog on and never have to go through the process of switching when they reach “adulthood” and possibly have to deal with all the digestion and diarrhea issues that go along with that. In the wild, puppies and adult dogs ... (continued)

Dog Muzzles
My groomer uses a soft e-collar when she grooms my difficult lhasa who nips at her. It looks like a foam core covered with fleece and fabric - firm but soft and comfy. Made very well. I was so impressed I got one to use when Rocky (my shih-tzu) had his eye removed. It worked awesome, and he could lay down, eat, and do everything comfortably. I got mine at http://www.designerecollars.com - not sure if it's also in stores.
