Deaf Rescue Dog Needed a Little Patience & a Lot More Love, Unaware a Perfect Human Had Come Along

Freddy had no clue the stranger stopping by his enclosure was about to become his favorite person. Shared by @freddythairidgeback, the video follows a deaf rescue dog meeting the human who would soon make his adoption the start of a completely different life. By the time Freddy is curled up on a soft bed, carrying toys around the house, and inviting her to play, it’s hard to believe he once started all his days hopelessly waiting behind a fence.

In the first scene, Freddy is resting listlessly behind the mesh of his enclosure. He looks a little unsure as on-screen text reads, “Freddy doesn’t know it yet. But someone is about to adopt him.” Moments later, he wanders over to sniff two fingers held out through the fence.

The video then flashes a screenshot of messages between the rescue and his future owner. This is the first hint that big things were already happening behind the scenes. Next, Freddy is brought out of his enclosure while rescue staff gather around with his new human, who is so happy to meet him. The two even pose for a photo together. Then we see him riding home in the car, enjoying soothing pats along the way.

Once he arrives, it feels like this was always home. One minute he is fast asleep on a plush bed wrapped in a blanket, and the next, he is wandering around the living room with a wagging tail, goofily carrying a toy before dropping into an enthusiastic play bow to invite his mom to join in.

There are little moments scattered throughout the video that make his new life feel wonderfully ordinary. Freddy sticks his nose toward the open car window to enjoy the breeze, rolls over for belly rubs by his mom’s feet, proudly sits in the back seat for another car ride, and later snuggles beside her under a blanket before covering her cheeks with kisses. A game of tug follows, and it is obvious this deaf rescue dog has settled in beautifully.

The caption shares that apart from Freddy’s deafness, he is also being assessed for neurological and mobility challenges. Even so, his family says that only made them love him more.
