Rubio has spent his whole life without ever really belonging to anyone, yet he still greets every visitor with so much excitement. Given what he’s been through, you’d think he would’ve given up on people, but he keeps choosing to trust them.

The clip opens with Rubio sitting quietly in his enclosure, staring sweetly at the camera. A quick flashback shows his rescue day when he tentatively emerged from underneath a vehicle. Back in the present, this affectionate shelter dog pushes his paws through the wire-mesh gap. It looks like he is actually trying to hold the volunteer’s hand, clearly yearning for human contact.
Then he looks up with highly hopeful eyes, almost begging his friend to stay just a little longer. Recess time, thankfully, transforms his mood as he heads out to the sunny yard. The athletic boy leans his entire body against a kneeling worker to receive big hugs. He happily dishes out endless wet kisses when the helper turns to pet him.
From the caption, we learn that this shelter dog is no couch potato. He has an active mixed-breed energy, meaning he requires daily exercise and fun games to stay content. Staff members also learned that this energetic fellow is a total water enthusiast who loves playing with the hose and splashing in ocean waves. Moreover, he participates beautifully in playgroups and gets along great with other pups.
Hundreds of online fans liked the post and actively prayed that he lands a permanent home. One viewer even urged others to share Rubio’s story until the right person sees it. Rubio is currently waiting at Miami-Dade Animal Services in Doral, Florida.
