In the Instagram video, Julie Saraceno introduced viewers to Sandy, a shelter dog living at the Benton Franklin Humane Society in Kennewick, Washington. The volunteer explained that someone had abandoned Sandy in an orchard, which left her with a painful memory linked to car rides.

Because of that experience, Sandy now believes that every trip in a car could end with her being left behind again. Wanting to change that fear, Saraceno decided to take Sandy on an outing and patiently show her that not every ride ends in heartbreak.

When it came time to get back into the car, Sandy hesitated and refused to climb inside. Saraceno stayed calm and gave her time to process the situation. She reassured Sandy while trying to encourage her back toward the vehicle. The furry angel struggled to overcome her fear of getting back into the car.

With Sandy still reluctant to climb inside, a kind staff member stepped in to help. Saraceno later shared a hopeful update, saying she hopes Sandy’s next car ride will take her to her forever home instead of another uncertain place.
