Spending time in three different shelters would be enough to wear down just about any dog. Somehow, it hasn’t changed the way Chemist greets people, even if she may feel lost on most days. In this emotional video shared by @rescueme_atl, the young shelter dog spots a familiar volunteer and rushes to the front of her kennel with a full-body wag.
The sad reality is that, at just four years old, this black Labrador has already received a brand-new identification number three times. One for each of the facilities she has lived in because nobody ever comes looking for her.
Shelter dog up for adoption has faced too many changes at just four years old
The video begins with the sweet shelter dog standing right up against the wire mesh door of her current enclosure. She spots a friendly volunteer approaching and instantly starts a joyous, full-body wiggle. The footage then cuts to show her time at previous facilities from October 2025 to June 2026.
Chemist looks a bit more subdued in the outdoor yard footage from her second stay. Still, her big eyes light up with optimism every single time a human walks past her cage. She treats every new face like an old friend, even though her environment keeps shifting constantly. Commenters are already hoping she finds the perfect family chemistry very soon. She just wants to stop being a temporary resident and finally become a permanent family member.
Sadly, her current stay comes with a very strict deadline of July 17 at four in the afternoon. The post explains that after losing everything so many times, feeling lost simply becomes familiar. Supporters are pooling their efforts online to make sure the right person sees her in time.
This heartbreaking video is a clear indication that this gorgeous shelter dog has plenty of love left to give. Everyone is actively crossing their fingers that this third facility stay will officially be her last. Chemist is currently waiting at Clayton County Animal Control on Anvil Block Road in Ellenwood, Georgia.
