You don’t have to be a dog parent to recognize the look of disappointment. A Golden Retriever named Miso is going viral after appearing less than impressed with his mom’s decision to spend time with her friends. Instead of causing a scene, he let one perfectly timed side eye do all the talking.
Golden Retriever gives mom the side eye over her betrayal
The clip, shared by @makinglight_kairysg, jokingly sets the tone with an on-screen caption that reads, “Wen ur mom abandons u for her friends in the square again.” While the situation was clearly lighthearted, Miso appeared convinced that he had been seriously wronged.
According to the video’s creator, she works from home and had only been about four feet away from her furry companion. Even so, Miso apparently wasn’t satisfied. In his eyes, any time spent away from him — or not giving him undivided attention — was simply too much.
The video shows the Golden Retriever sitting on the couch with an unmistakable look of disapproval. Rather than greeting his mom enthusiastically, Miso keeps his gaze fixed elsewhere, only shooting her a dramatic side eye as she tries to get his attention.
Realizing she wasn’t getting a warm welcome, his mom begins apologizing to the sulking pup. She even reminds him that she left him with a “support pillow” while she was away, hoping it might help her case. Miso, however, remains completely unconvinced.
When she points out that he won’t even look at her, the dog responds in the funniest way possible. Without turning his head, he slowly glances toward her from the corner of his eye before looking away again. The creator later summed up Miso’s personality in the caption. She wrote, “when a mom that works is the worst thing in the whole wide world to her needy, moody, golden baby.”
Viewers couldn’t get enough of the dog’s dramatic expression and quickly filled the comments with jokes. “Ooh nooo that side eye GIRL the PUPPER MAD,” one person wrote. Another commenter jokingly asked, “How can you live with yourself?” Others suggested Miso deserved a proper apology before moving on. “Submit your apology form!” one viewer quipped.
