Shelter Dog Returned Within 24 Hours for Being ‘Too Hyper’ Waits All Over Again

One day was all it took for Jax to think he had found his family, and all it took for him to end up right back where he started. A heartbreaking video shared by @julie_taylor_ca1 follows the young shelter dog after he was returned less than 24 hours after his adoption for being “too hyper.” At just 10 months old, Jax is still very much a puppy, full of curiosity, excitement, and energy. Instead of needing less of those things, he simply needs someone who understands that growing up takes a little patience.

Shelter dog adopted and returned within a day waits for a forever home

The video opens with Jax sitting inside his kennel, staring toward the volunteer with the camera with searching eyes. An on-screen caption explains why he is back at the shelter, and it is hard not to wish things had gone differently for him.

As the volunteer lingers, Jax’s mood brightens just a little. His tail starts wagging, and before long he flashes an adorable smile. A few toys are scattered around his kennel, but they barely hold his attention. What really seems to matter is having someone nearby, even if only for a few moments. When the volunteer finally steps away, Jax settles back onto the floor and watches them leave.

According to the post, Jax’s original owner had to surrender him and his sister after being deployed. The pair were adopted together, but their new family soon realized raising two energetic young dogs was more than they expected. Jax, described as the more playful and energetic sibling, was returned.

The shelter says Jax is a smart Blue Merle Catahoula Hound mix. He already knows how to sit, loves treats, and enjoys running. He would actually thrive with an active family willing to invest time in training. Hundreds have already watched the shelter dog’s video. And a few pointed out that puppies need time to settle into a new home before showing their true personalities.

Hopefully, the next family that meets this wonderful shelter dog sees his energy for what it really is: a young dog excited about life and ready to share it with someone who won’t give up on him.
