Shelter Dog Saw Her Puppies Get Adopted, but Is Waiting for a Home Herself

It’s hard not to feel emotional when a dog’s tail starts wagging the second someone finally notices her. That’s exactly what happened with Mama Moo, the shelter dog at the center of a hugely viral video from @aguyandagoldenn. Her puppies have all found homes, but she’s still waiting for her turn. After spending day after day watching people pass her kennel, she got a chance to spend a few hours seeing what life outside the shelter could look like.

Overlooked mama dog up for adoption lives a day outside of the shelter walls

The clip opens at the Greenville Humane Society with creator Jonathan Lower walking up to the reception desk. He asks the staff for a pup who has been there a while and needs a major pick-me-up. The workers instantly introduce him to Mama Moo, who is lying on a cot with incredibly sad eyes. But her tail starts thumping the exact second Jonathan reaches out to pet her. They head outside immediately for a quick photo and a trip to a local taco joint for a treat.

Next, they head out for a cold dessert. Mama Moo happily licks a pup cup while riding inside a bicycle buggy. And she looks completely thrilled by the breeze. Then they head into a pet store so she can choose any toy she wants. Jonathan decides that she needs a plush cow and a lamb chop. She even models a bright pink and orange sun hat and flashes a big smile for the camera. You can tell this sweet girl is clearly loving life away from her concrete enclosure.

All that roaming around makes her incredibly sleepy on the car ride back. Before dropping her back, Jonathan scratches her cheeks and promises that a permanent family is out there. The wholesome video of the sweet shelter dog completely blew up online, racking up over 917K likes. Jonathan explains in the comments that this series is called Shelter Dog Saturday. He runs it with Katelyn from @adventuringwitharchie_. Over 150 dogs featured in the series found homes right away.

The internet is collectively weeping and begging local residents to head to the rescue center immediately. One viewer wrote, “Someone go scoop this baby up!” Another comment mentioned that every single mama needs a special day like this.
