Shelter Dog Has Known Foster Mom for One Week but Loves Her Like It’s Been a Lifetime

A week is not very long, but Honeycomb seems to have decided it is plenty of time to get attached to a new person. In the video shared by @simonsits, the foster dog sits beside Isabel on the couch while she covers her face in kisses. Honeycomb happily returns a few of her own.

Then she lowers her head onto Isabel’s chest. She settles into her lap and looks up at her with so much affection that it makes your heart ache. This shelter dog loves her foster mom already, and the reason their bond feels especially meaningful goes beyond the cuddle session.

Shelter dog spends her first week in foster home hugging, kissing and gazing lovingly at the woman who gave her a second chance

Honeycomb first came to Isabel after being picked up from the ACC. Before that, she had reportedly been attacked several times and had a serious injury to her leg. She spent a week with Isabel’s friend and the Muddy Paws veterinary team for testing and an assessment. Only then did she move into foster care.

Now she is on the couch, soaking up every bit of attention she can get. Isabel keeps kissing Honeycomb’s cheeks, and the furry baby answers with a few licks of her own. Then she rests her head against Isabel’s chest, prompting an immediate “Aww,” followed by chin scratches and another round of kisses.

Honeycomb keeps inching closer. She places a paw on Isabel’s lap, rolls into her, and eventually settles across her lap. When she looks up at Isabel, the two just stay there for a moment. The post is poignant because Isabel recently lost her dog Simon, whom she called her soul dog. That makes welcoming Honeycomb into the home an emotional experience. Especially since Isabel described this as her first foster without him.

Some commenters said that Simon must have sent Honeycomb her way. Another wrote, “Just two gals healing each other with love!” That idea clearly struck a chord with many people, as the video has already reached 119,000 likes in less than 24 hours.
