After years of avoiding beaches, boats, and pretty much any activity involving water, Cactus, the rescue dog, picked a very random day to change his mind. In a video shared by @cactustherescue, a normal walk with dad goes completely off script the moment Cactus spots a giant puddle.
The rescue dog is having the time of his life in the puddle, but his dad looks completely caught off guard by the whole thing. For whatever reason, this temporary pond succeeded where beaches and boat days never could.

By the time the video starts, Cactus is already dealing with the consequences. He is wrapped up in a towel and is being carried in his dad’s arms in the bathroom. Moreover, he looks annoyed, damp, and completely unconvinced that he did anything wrong.
His dad looks down at him and says, “This is your own doing,” before explaining that the dog is both humiliated and unhappy about the shower that followed. Then viewers get the backstory. At the park, Cactus spots a giant rain puddle and immediately becomes obsessed. His dad notices what’s coming and tries to stop it with a warning. However, it doesn’t work.
For a dog who usually avoids water, Cactus looks surprisingly comfortable flying through that puddle. This is the same rescue dog whose dad says the pup has rejected beaches, boats, and every previous attempt at aquatic fun.
Then another dog shows up and makes the situation even harder to control. The two canines race through the puddle together while Cactus’ dad repeatedly calls them out. Nobody listens. Cactus even keeps attempting to sit down in the water, changing his mind halfway through, then trying again moments later.
By the time his dad gets him back on leash, the rescue dog is soaked in the water from the rain puddle. With more than 50,000 likes, viewers loved seeing this side of him. One person joked, “He’s a cactus. He only needs a little bit of water once in a while to survive.” The bath afterward seemed to be the one part of the experience Cactus wasn’t thrilled about.
