The second a baby enters the picture, dogs suddenly start acting like they’ve got very important questions. And Fyn, a sweet Border Collie, kept both her mom and dad fully alert the first time she met her newborn baby brother. ‘Excited’ dog gets comfort from mom and dad while meeting their newborn baby
The clip shows everything these parents did to help Fyn stay calm during the introduction. Before the newborn baby even came home, they placed his hospital blanket on top of Fyn’s crate so the dog could get familiar with his scent early.
Then, when mom finally arrived home from the hospital, they greeted Fyn outside first instead of immediately bringing her in. Fyn immediately looked as if she had realized the house felt different somehow. The second she jumped up near the window to greet mom, she started scanning the room intentionally.
Once inside, she approached mom carefully, tail wagging the whole time. Mom sat holding the baby while dad stayed close beside her the whole time. Just to make sure things never got too chaotic. At first, everything went smoothly. Fyn sniffed the baby’s head gently, checked in with mom for reassurance, then wandered away before coming back for another look a few seconds later.
But then came the moment both parents clocked immediately. Fyn jumped onto the couch beside mom and started spinning around excitedly. The on-screen text admitted, “I started to panic,” especially because Fyn apparently likes launching herself between pieces of furniture. Dad instantly and calmly moved closer, blocked her path a couple of times, and kept giving her reassuring pats while helping her settle back down before another sniff of her little brother.
After that, mom and dad kept the sweet dog sitting between them and the newborn baby, while both of them scratched Fyn’s ears and helped her settle. Once everybody relaxed a little, mom grabbed a ball and let Fyn burn off the rest of her excitement.
