For the past few weeks, people have been following the Ridglan Farms rescue closely, and dogs like Rare have become impossible not to think about once you see them settling into real homes. This rescue dog spent most of her life caged in a lab before ending up with her mom, Sammi, who’s now helping her experience things most dogs take for granted, including cuddles.
@cozyveganfinds has been sharing little clips of the Beagle adjusting, and each of them is a tear-jerker. Now she gets to curl up beside her humans, nap on soft blankets, and wander around an actual yard. The biggest change is in her body language, as she looks less tense in almost every clip.
Rescue dog fears she might lose it all and clings to mom after being caged all her life
The Instagram reel starts with rescuers carrying Beagles out to waiting cars after the Ridglan rescue. You can tell Rare doesn’t really know what’s happening yet. In the caption, Sammi said she cried “ugly tears” while making the video, and once you watch it, you’ll get it. She says her sweet girl is so brave, but also incredibly tired from her past. The dog has been through more than anyone could imagine.
Now, Rare is learning how to be a real pet in her new environment day by day. She spends her time sniffing the grass and exploring the corners of the yard. Her Beagle sibling, Bambi, is always nearby to show her how everything works. Sammi shared that Rare got her first zoomies the night before posting the video, and that alone says a lot about how far she’s come.
The Beagle hops around the grass with a level of joy that she didn’t know last week. Seeing her bask in the bright sunlight is just so heartwarming. What really gets people, though, is how attached she already is to Sammi. Rare often clings to her during cuddles like she is scared the love might disappear.
The dog was once caged and silenced, but now she listens to her dad play the guitar. She even spends her nights sleeping soundly on a soft blanket instead of a cold floor. As of the time of writing, over 4.8k people have already liked the video. “A dog learning to be a dog,” one viewer wrote. And really, that’s exactly what this feels like.
