Seeing a dog go from a difficult past to a bright future is always a special experience. And this video shared by @forgotten_now_family_rescue starts with a frightened rescue dog standing alone, chained up and painfully thin, but somehow still wagging his tail at the people coming to help him. Peter Pan spent many difficult nights waiting for a change before help arrived. He was found chained at a fight ring, which is a place where no animal should ever live. Even through his obvious fear, he kept a tiny spark of hope alive. His story is definitely worth your time.
Rescue dog once chained at a fight ring is never lonely now after being saved
The first few seconds are honestly difficult to watch. Peter Pan looks exhausted. His ribs are visible, his fur is rough, and the heavy chain attached to him says everything before the captions even begin. The in-video text explains that this rescue Pit Bull had been trapped in a dog fight ring, and that his “little toes tapped in excitement” when rescuers arrived. And they really do.
While standing there chained and nervous, Peter Pan starts lightly tapping his paws against the ground while wagging his tail. He even lets out a huge yawn, almost like his body cannot decide whether to panic or finally relax for the first time in forever. The rescue later shared, “He made friends with the moon every day and waited. So I named him Peter Pan. I promised him to find Neverland.” Then the video shifts.
Photos start appearing of Peter Pan being carried to safety, and tucked against his rescuer on the ride home. It also showed him slowly transforming over the following months into a healthier, brighter version of himself. One frame shows him kissing his rescuer’s chin while sitting together in a park. Another in-video caption jokingly says he’s “a bit harder to hold now,” because he finally gained healthy weight back. That before-and-after shot at the end says everything.
The video pulled over 25.6k likes in less than a day, and viewers were emotional watching the once-chained rescue dog finally get saved. “His scars make my heart ache,” one person wrote. Another simply said, “Thank you for saving him from that hell on earth life.” Peter Pan is waiting for adoption, and here’s hoping he finds his forever home soon.
