Michael from @cactustherescue is officially done with the heart attacks. This video shows what happens when his rescue dog, Cactus, realizes the backyard gate is finally getting a safety upgrade. A few days ago, Cactus made a run for it, but thankfully, he was just hanging out in the side yard. That’s why Dad is making sure he stays put this time, and Cactus is just standing there watching his exit route get sealed off with concrete.
Rescue dog is stuck in the backyard after dad seals escape routes and protests
Michael is filming as he walks outside, and Cactus is already hanging out near the gate. If you’ve seen the previous video, you know he escaped from this exact spot a few days ago. What’s interesting, though, is that the makeshift blockade had moved around a bit. Dad asks Cactus if he did it. “Did you do this? Is that you? Yep.” He points at the heavy cinderblocks. That’s when he decides he has to patch it up for good. Cactus just looks on helplessly.
Dad readjusts the cinder blocks and places them horizontally so there is zero room to squeeze through. Cactus inspects every single move, and you can tell he isn’t a fan of the new rules. Dad tells him he is stuck, but then he finds another gap under the fence. Then Michael gets out a mesh wire roll. “See this? That’s gonna stop you from escaping.” And proceeds to block that gap, too. It is the cutest video of this rescue dog and his dad together in the backyard.
Cactus decides to just lie down right next to the work as a dramatic protest. He is just pouting on the grass when dad tells him he just wants to keep him safe. He even pats his head to make him understand. One viewer joked that Cactus feels like he is in prison now. But Michael says he just loves him too much to risk it.
He calls him over to see the final barricade. Cactus comes running from the patio. But then he sees the wire. “You’re stuck,” dad says a final time and then gives him a big hug. The post has 11.3k likes already. People are so glad he is safe. One fan said, “Protect that baby at all costs!!”
