Living at a lake in New Jersey usually means a lot of swimming and sun. But in this clip the water is actually frozen. Gailin is the dog mom behind @goldenchilidog. And she is trying to get her pack ready for the wet weather. This video is all about a 14-week-old Golden Retriever puppy trying on a raincoat for the very first time. Stevie is the new addition. And she is basically a tiny floral explosion in a ruffled pink coat. Her older brother Chili is there too. But he looks like he has forgotten how to use his legs. Cleary rain jackets are not his favorite.

Mom tells them both to go patrol in their jackets. Stevie is a total natural in it. She even does a sassy little head turn to check out her own outfit. But Chili is just standing there. He is wearing a blue jacket with little duckies on it. And he looks like he is made of stone. “Chili’s acting like this is HIS first time wearing one,” his owner said. Stevie is absolutely fearless.
She does not care about any outfit. And certainly no type of weather is stopping her. She is a total baby shark, as her mom calls her in the caption. The video cuts to show Chili with his hood pulled up over his head, and he looks absolutely miserable. Mom says sorry and takes it off. He just stays stupefied on the deck.
Meanwhile, Stevie is out in the rain. She is on “birb patrol” near a tree. She is listening to everything. Her body language says she is on high alert. Then she goes and jumps on her brother. He is minding his own business on the side of the road, and yet he just lets it happen. That’s what happens when you include a new puppy in your pack. He finally has to run away just to get some space.
They get to the front porch. Chili stays under the roof. He is done with the rain. Mom tells him it is not even raining that hard. But he doesn’t move. Stevie is still out in the snow.
