Golden Retrievers are believed to have a strong instinct to fetch due to their history as hunting dogs. But this owner has some other thoughts about her golden pooch. As per this pet parent, her pet dog is “reckless and irresponsible” when it comes to retrieving his balls. To prove her point, the dog mom uploaded a video to social media. It has garnered more than 118K at the time of writing.
Owner proves Golden Retriever is ‘reckless and irresponsible’ with viral beach video
Adria Barich loves her pet pooch, Oatmeal, a lot. She has uploaded various videos on @adriaandoatmeal, showing their fun time together. However, she does have one complaint about her furry pal – “Oatmeal ALWAYS loses his ball.” And to prove this, the dog mom captured the pooch in action and shared the clip with the world.
The reel shows the duo on the Florida beach with his toy despite knowing “it’s not even worth bringing the ball for Oatmeal at the beach because he always drops it into the water.” Nevertheless, she brings the ball and throws it for golden pooch to fetch.
Seeing this, the fur baby runs to get the ball in the water. He grabs it and then “conveniently” forgets about it. As a result, the ball gets “sucked out to sea,” unknown to him. But soon after, the golden pup remembers “the ball exists” and tries to get it from the water, “only to get pummeled by a wave.”
Despite all his trials, when the pooch does not get his ball, he starts “freaking out” thinking where his ball is. The pooch is so “locked in that he does not realise it’s already washed ashore,” and the mom has “grabbed it.” The pet parent tells about it to the pooch “numerous time,” but since he has “never been known for his listening skills,” the pooch continues to find the ball in the water until the mom “physically show him” the ball, only for him to “steal again” to “repeat this whole dance again.”
Watching this, the Barich wishes Oatmeal could retrieve his ball like a “normal dog,” which makes her admit that the pooch is “reckless and irresponsible.” However, the followers soon defended the pup, with one saying, “He’s just a babaayyyyyyy.” While another mentioned, “Hate to break it to you, but that’s normal golden retriever behaviour. That’s what ours does too!.”
