Losing four pets in as short a window as a month is literally a nightmare nobody wants to wake up to. Maren Peeters is going through that right now after saying goodbye to Raffie, Odin, Pickles, and Bean. But life has a weird way of dropping exactly what you need right into your lap. About three weeks ago, she took in a new rescue dog named Potato. In a recent clip over at @bundleofbullies, this boy proves he has a serious sixth sense for sadness. The video shows us how the rescue dog is already healing his owner in more ways than one.
Rescue dog snuggles with owner after she loses her dogs
The video starts with the rescue dog sitting on the couch next to his owner’s son, Dario. He is just hanging out while Dario watches something on an iPad. American Bullies are often “velcro dogs” because they never want to be far from their people. This boy is no different.
Then Potato starts turning toward his mom slowly. He moves an inch at a time until he faces her completely. The rescue pup clearly knows she is having a rough day and needs some extra love. He reaches out and puts his front paws right on his mom’s chest. He plops down and lets her snuggle into him.
Maren leans in close. Potato sniffs her face and then rests his chin right on her shoulder. “I am so thankful for Potato. He is literally saving me,” the owner shared in the caption. The rescue dog seems totally content to be her support system. He is dealing with some skin issues right now too, so they are healing together.
The comment section is absolutely losing it over this sweet “land seal.” One person said that he is officially a “Sweet Potato” now. Another viewer pointed out that he knew she needed him just as much as he needed her. It is a pretty special experience to nurture a new family member while grieving. Even Cupcake, her dog from the previous pack, is helping out in her own way. The support from nearly 40,000 people shows how much this story hits home.
