Dog Reacts to Being ‘Rejected’ in the Kitchen in Cute Video

Sydney is currently having a full-blown existential crisis on the top of the stairs. It is a rough day for this Australian Cattle Dog. And her dad, James Blanchard, documents the drama on his Instagram page, @oliversue_sydney. In his latest video, the dog looks completely defeated, with her head resting heavily on the carpet, as she was rejected.

All that drama stems from an unsuccessful attempt to secure some soup from the kitchen earlier. Her dad films her letting out a massive, shivering sigh that signals the extent of her heartbreak. As we see in the video, this rejected dog truly wears her emotions on her sleeve. As James says, “Not sure how she is gonna manage.”

Interestingly, Sydney’s breed is known for being incredibly focused and alert. When she sets her sights on a pot of soup, she expects results. But after being told to get down, she retreated to the landing to sulk.

Her dad asks if she is okay, but she just shifts her eyes sadly. She does the physical equivalent of a “hmph” while lying there. She clearly feels rejected by the very person who usually feeds her.

Even her brother, Oliver, is feeling the sting of the soup refusal. He sits nearby with equally sad eyes, smacking his lips in solidarity.

Their mom mentions a chip is currently sitting on the kitchen floor. Their dad tries to perk up Sydney’s mood by asking her if she wants to go get it. The pup stays put, clearly too hurt to move. But Oliver stands up with purpose. He decides a floor chip is better than no soup at all.

When Sydney sees Oliver heading down the stairs, her competitive side finally kicks in. She scrambles down behind him to see if the prize is real. Oliver is much faster and finds the chip first. Sydney looks absolutely desolate again.

That’s when we see their mom has a secret weapon to save the day. She offers Sydney a bite of shredded chicken. The once-rejected dog takes it with a very enthusiastic snap. At the end of the video, both the pups seem satisfied with the outcome.

The comments say it all: people calling her “sad-da-ney,” questioning who dared tell her no, and insisting those eyes belong to a person. With over 29K likes in under a day, this video definitely proves one thing — no one handles rejection quite like Sydney.
