When big dogs are gentle, it just hits different. Especially when the thing they are being gentle about is a regular household routine. Over at @honkifyoulovemydog, a Doberman named Cowboy is proving that despite the “tough guy” reputation of his breed, he’s basically just a giant baby.
As night falls, most pups start circling their own beds, but Cowboy has a much more important bedtime routine. This specific video shows him taking care of his favorite person in the most deliberate, gentle way, reminding us why we don’t deserve dogs.
Doberman makes sure mom is tucked in for the night in adorable video
The clip opens in the bedroom with Cowboy’s mom stretched out on the bed, filming casually. Cowboy is already at work. He bends down and carefully picks up his favorite colorful caterpillar toy, like he is doing the most important thing. He places it on top of her, then nudges it closer to her side with his snout, adjusting it until it sits just right.
When the toy’s tail starts slipping off the bed, Cowboy notices immediately. He grabs it with his teeth, pulls it back up, and fixes it again. After making sure the caterpillar is perfectly tucked, Cowboy leans in toward his mom’s face. When she turns to look at him, he gives her the sweetest little kiss — a quick check-in before calling it a night.
The on-screen text reads, “My dog just tucked me in and gave me a bedtime kiss” and it’s hard not to tear up a little. His mom has joked in previous posts that he’s essentially a toddler, often demanding to be tucked in himself. Clearly, he’s learned from the best and knows exactly how special it feels to be snug.
The internet is collectively melting, with the post racking up over 41.6k likes in less than a day. As one viewer put it, “Protect that child at all cost.” No matter how big the breed, our dogs will always be our babies.
