Video: Dog Plays Beach Volleyball & Ends up Impressing Everyone

Imagine walking along a Brazilian beach and seeing a rally so intense it looks like a professional highlights reel, only to realize one of the players has four legs and a wagging tail. In a post by @dog_altinha, we see that the world-renowned footvolley champion Natalia Guitler has truly met her match in the athletic dog, Floki. The game, involving three humans and one Border Collie, turns out to be a high-level display of “Altinha” that has captured the attention of millions.

Dog’s beach volleyball skills in this video will have you breaking a sweat

The action kicks off mid-game with Natalia and Floki facing off against two formidable opponents. Natalia starts things off with a flair. She uses a back-kick to send the ball over the net. When the return comes back, she uses a perfect chest trap to settle the ball before “passing” it to Floki. As a Border Collie, Floki’s legendary focus and amazing agility are on full display here. He times his jump perfectly to use his head. He then settles the ball back to Natalia so she can finish the play with a powerful strike.

Watching the beach volleyball-style rally continue is exhausting just to look at. Floki is vocal throughout, barking as if he’s calling for the ball or shouting instructions to his partner. At one point, he jumps into the air to play a high ball with such precision that viewers in the comments have started calling him the “best player” on the court.

When the ball finally lands out of bounds, Floki is the first one to retrieve it. The caption is from Floki’s POV, saying, “She and I are getting too strong!!” (translated from Portuguese)

With over 175,000 likes, the internet is absolutely floored by Floki’s skill. And also his chemistry with Natalia. After the sweat-inducing session, the two share a quick huddle in the sand for some well-earned scritches. It just goes to show that while Natalia is a seven-time world champion, her favorite teammate is clearly the one who works for head rubs.
