Rescue Pup Hides When He Sees His Babysitting Bag Being Packed

There is a very specific brand of guilt that hits the second your dog spots a suitcase. Or worse, their babysitting bag. For Cactus, a sweet rescue pup from @cactustherescue, the sight of any form of luggage is basically a call to action — or rather, a call to hide. Even though he has a pampered life in Miami, he still hasn’t mastered the art of “playing it cool” when his dad, Mike, has to leave for a few days. This latest video shows just how dramatic things get when Cactus realizes a trip to the babysitter is officially on the horizon.

Rescue pup hides in a corner the moment he notices his bag being packed

The scene opens in the living room, where Cactus has attempted to pull a disappearing act next to a console table. It’s a bit of an “if I can’t see you, you can’t see me” situation. Though his hind legs and worried eyes are a dead giveaway. Mike spots him there and asks, “Are you hiding?” Cactus just stays tucked away in his corner, looking like his entire world has collapsed.

Mike explains that he’s already packed the bag with all his favorite toys and treats. But the rescue pup just responds with those heavy, slow blinks that make every pet owner want to cancel their flights immediately. Mike admitted in his caption that it’s “the worst every single time.” Even though he knows Cactus is heading to a place where he is absolutely spoiled.

In fact, there’s an earlier video where we saw how much he adored his first-ever babysitter. And that tells us that he always loves it at his babysitter’s, old or new. But the initial “goodbye” is always a struggle. He even has his best dog friend waiting for him there. Yet, he still insists on making Mike feel like a total villain for the crime of leaving.

The post has picked up over 19,000 likes. And followers are joking that Cactus needs a 72-hour notice before any luggage is handled. After a few chin scritches, he seemed a little better. But it’s clear that Cactus won’t be truly happy again until his dad is back on the couch.
