Most of us have been low-key bullied by our pets for a spot on the couch, but Maya really takes it to a whole new level. Over on @lifewoofmaya, the dog is standing on the floor with her chin resting against the couch. She looks like she’s expecting something. The American Bully‘s owner is already lounging under a blanket, phone in hand, filming the standoff. In the video, we see that this dog clearly wants to be on the couch… just not like this. Right from the start, you can tell Maya has a very specific plan in mind, and she’s definitely not settling for less.

At first, Maya’s owner pats the couch and invites her up. No response. The dog just looks deeply unimpressed with the current setup. Her mom pats the spot again and tries to coax her up, but Maya isn’t budging an inch. Being an American Bully, she’s basically 50% love and 50% absolute, unshakable stubbornness — good luck winning a debate with her. Her mom explains, “She refuses to come on the couch unless I am laid exactly how she wants me to be.”
After some blanket smoothing and cushion adjusting, her mom finally gives in and gets into the “required” position. She moves her legs to create a perfect little V-shaped nest, and suddenly, Maya is all in. She hops up, comes up to mom for a quick check, and plops right down with a massive, dramatic sigh. It’s that “it’s about time” kind of sigh that only a truly pampered pup can pull off.
Her mom can only laugh, admitting, “I just can’t with her.” The 5,500 likes tell us that the video has struck a chord with pet parents everywhere. One viewer joked that we all essentially do whatever our pets tell us to do, no questions asked.
Another fellow American Bully owner mentioned their pup does the exact same “between the legs” routine, proving these “house hippos” are actually tyrants when it comes to nap time.
